James Blunt, Back to Bedlam.
An impulse buy. Heard it at Barnes & Noble while shopping.
Not my usual type of music, sound quality could be better, but this guy is worth a listen. Very good singer/songwriter.
Sounds interesting. How would you describe his sound? I'm always interested in something new.

After reading posts in this forum on favorite SACDs, just received my SACDs of Dire Straits' Brothers in Arms, and Roxy Music's Avalon. I A-B'd them with the redbook CDs, and the difference is stunning.

Saxophone Colossus - Sonny Rollins
Everybody Digs Bill Evans - Bill Evans
Getz/Gilberto- Getz/Gilberto (SACD)
Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots - Flaming Lips
Soft Bulliten - Flaming Lips

The getz/gilberto SACD is awesome for a 50 year old recording.

Does anybody have the SACD of Saxophone Colossus? Just wondering if it is enough of an upgrade from the CD to be worth purchasing.

Erich Kunzel & The Cincinnati Pops - Time Warp

I picked it up at the pawnshop for $3 in excellant condition, it sells new on Amazon for $18 (There must be an audiohilic in town who likes to trade in his classical collection every 4 months). Its a very old copy, maybe even a 1984 first pressing. The book is very yellow & worn.

Its fun to read "about your new CD!" in the 10 page booklet(!). How to handle a CD, why isn't there a needle?, should I rest it label side down?:D

The first CDs must have been a very strange phenomena. :p

I found another great band.

There called "The Mars Volta"

Its a very weird style. Its brass, mixed with rock. And the singer is just awesome. I'm listening to the album "Frances the Mute".

So far I'm liking it. Some songs are not in English (spanish). And they have a really spanish vibe (almost like ricky martin, using piano and brass, but the guitar is Very hard. Fast solos, and cording like rock).
The Mars Volta are pretty much the best and most talented modern band right now. They are amazing.

Frances the Mute is IMO their best album.

What other bands do you like? Do they match any of the other ones I've listed.

Rage Against the Machine
Red Hot Chili Peppers

So those are a few bands I enjoy. However my favorite bands/albums would have to be The Mars Volta/Frances the Mute, Every Time I Die/Hot Damn!, or Thursday/Full Collapse. If you're into hardcore you would probably like Every Time I Die, and I would suggest checking out Fear Before the March of Flames and Since By Man. Both bands play amazing shows live, and they both toured not too long ago with the Fall of Troy (amazing as well) and Bear vs. Shark. It was a freakin' awesome concert.
