Right now, I'm off on a serious tangent, listening to Charlie Poole and the North Carolina Ramblers. "Ol' Timey" music has a real genuineness and complete lack of irony that is appealing in our cynical era. This is a song from about 1910 about the great Baltimore Fire of 1904....."Fair Balteeeeemore, the beautiful city", "calling loud to heaven for aid".
