Iron Maiden, Number of the Beast FLAC. Speaking of which does FLAC work in WMP? Or only the lossless WMA?

I haven't listened tho this album for 5 years now and its hit me again like it did the very first time I've heard it. Dam, this has got be one of better albums that came out that year. The music, the recording,,,all top notch.

I wonder how big the Tea Party got in the US?

Yeah the early Tea Party stuff was amazing... everything up to and including Transmission. I've got an album called Alhambra which is kinda odd but also really good.

Think it's time to dig up the old albums... :D

Bon Iver, For Emma Forever Ago - Singer/writer Justin Vernon went into isolation for several months in a mountain cabin and came back with a CD. It was a gift, I had never heard of the guy. It takes a couple of listens to get with his haunting falsetto, but this is quite a fine piece of work. Strange and spare sometimes chanty but this is entirely his sound. It's well worth a listen. Being a first effort, this guy has serious potential.

And then there's Diana Krall's new one, Quiet Nights. A good title for the album, which has a strong bossa nova component and a very laid back vibe. Diana is almost but not quite a favorite singer of mine and this is almost but not quite a favorite DK album. I don't mean to damn with faint praise, but it's just pretty good. My favorites of hers are The Girl in the Other Room and Live in Paris.

Chris Botti's "in Boston". I've been a big fan of him since I bought "Night Sessions" SACD 7 years ago. This time I bought the special edition which included the CD and DVD, and it did not let me down one bit. It's excellent, with a whole bunch of great musicians participating. There are a couple of tracks that stand out: "Cinema Paradiso" with Yo-Yo Ma and "Emmanuel" with Lucia Micarelli. Give it a try if you like Chris Botti, I know you won't be disappointed.

Pizza Deliverance by the Drive By Truckers - Another round of their wry, enjoyable, witty, loud, jangly, profane portrayals of the joy of being a redneck. With lyrics like "My room mate's gun has nine bullets, nine bullets in my room mate's gun, my room mate's gun has nine bullets and I'll find a use for every one" and songs like "The President's Penis is Missing" or "Too much sex, too little Jesus", how can you not like DBT?
