Anyone heard the on-wall options out there?

I'm a Def Tech fan and would love to employ Mythos Tens all around in our new house. However, I also want to maximize value.

I'm looking for on wall to maximize the space in the living room I'm not convinced that I could give my current bipolar towers the space they need to really perform without sacrificing some living room space.

Thoughts? I'm looking at Axiom, would like to know what options you guys know of for on-wall systems. Direct mount, not installing shelves and all that. WAF must be high.

EDIT: Also looking at Kef T-series now. They look pretty rockin.

Those EMPTek options look good. Kef looks real good too. I wonder how they compare to Def Tech Mythos.

I've had some discussions with other forum members about on-wall speakers before.

This thread might have some helpful info in it for you :)

Revel is certainly looking like a great option, I thought they were more expensive than they are. Pairing them with 2 Hsu or SVS subs would be quite a nice living room.

Martin Logan has a 3 tier in wall offering with their Ticket, Passage and Voyage series. I saw them in a Tweeter but never heard them. They look good. :)

I've heard a few Source Technologies speakers, and all were very good.
Walter has the LS26 as rear surrounds and they sound like they could handle being fronts.

Oh yeah ... I forgot about those completely. Yeah ... those rear surrounds were my favorite speakers in the room. Good call.

First off, I have to say a sincere "Thank-you" to FirstReflection for the truly in-depth and thought provoking advice he provided me a while back.....I had no idea the additional space I needed to pressurize.....As my situation was similar but different to yours, I ended up going with these:
SUNFIRE: Cinema Ribbon Trio On-Wall - CRS-3
Sunfire SRC-3 on-wall speakers, added an amp to my Onkyo and a SVS PB12 Plus and now I am rocking!...Of course, the many requirements for on-wall speakers and WAF/space savings, along with a 60% movie/40% Music system were of the highest priority, so was the deep bass, so I "made room" for the all important monster sub. Although this sub takes up a ton of real estate in my room, I love looking and listening to this beast, and now I find we are playing more music through the entire system because all components just sound so good together!
The Sunfires are the self proclaimed "Worlds most powerful on wall speaker"...Not sure if this claim is entirely true, but I can say I am satisfied.
I guess my point is that you are receiving great advice from this forum, and while evaluating products such as on-wall speakers can seem frustrating at times because you don't want to make a $$ mistake, it is possible to get exactly what you are looking for with a little support.
Thanks Audioholics!

I'm still considering keeping my current setup, but arranging bipolar towers for proper sound is difficult. These are best in an environment built for them.

It might be a lot easier to resell one Mythos center channel than everything. Got a lot to consider.

EDIT: Right now based on all factors, Kef and Revel are my front runners if I decide to go on wall. Buying a CLR2300 and keeping my Def Tech gear is second option.

I am currently auditioning some Kef speakers. I installed these http://pinpointmounts.com/am40.html. Both the wife and I are happy with the looks, and I like the ability to adjust the tilt and angle.

I tried the Kef Q300s, but I currently have a pair of the R100s mounted. I am still working on fine tuning the bass response by playing with the port plugs. The rear port on the R100s are 5-6" away from the wall with the speaker tilted down. Overall, they have sounded great.

I know it's not exactly on wall, but this is working out really well for us.

I still love the Kef T305 setup, just don't know how good it will play. I think I need to wait until we move and start planning new. I might be without AV for a couple weeks. :(

Reviews still make it seem like none of these options can match the Mythos for across-the-board range response. I'd hate a front that can't reach below 110Hz. The Mythos can get down below 80 with no problem, but the price is also painful. I used to have a good Def Tech hookup, basically 50% of retail, but not any more. :(

I went with these because of small children for the time being: Energy TAKE Flat Panel Speakers. I believe they have a nice WAF factor, with grills on of course.

I think once I get into the new house, I'll give you guys more details to plan out an ideal system.
