Trump's talk of merging the two countries appears to be directly at odds with his assertions that cheap Canadian goods are hurting the U.S.

I wonder if Trump believes that cheap food from Iowa is hurting all of those small family farms in Manhattan?

I see there are a bunch of Yahoos around Calgary Alberta that want Canada to become the 51st. State. Typical from around there.

That is bad, as if that happened, it would limit our options. My wife and I and three of our children are US, Canadian and UK citizens. If things get bad enough we have been deciding which of the two countries to move back to. Canada becoming the 51st. state would only give us one option, although that option likely would be the best option. So the UK it would be!

Why would he want to create a wall between the two countries?

As far as I can tell he seems to believe the that U.S. inevitably gets screwed any time the U.S. interacts with a foreign country (with the possible exception of Russia).

At one point I thought his never-ending tirades about other countries were primarily populist campaign schtick, but his recent comments make me think he is a true isolationist, at least when it comes to economic issues.
