I'm not a fan of silver components. Everything I have is all black

Same here with the exception of vintage silver components with thick brushed aluminum faces, the modern silver plastic looking gear looks tacky to me.I'm not a fan of silver components. Everything I have is all black(except my ugly HD-DVR

I do like the vintage receivers with the glass displays and aluminum trim.Same here with the exception of vintage silver components with thick brushed aluminum faces, the modern silver plastic looking gear looks tacky to me.
I agree. My old Kenwood amp (circa 1980) had a face plate nearly 1/4" thick of brushed aluminum...probably about $25.00 scrap these days. Sweet! The reason i really like the vintage silver gear is because it was made to look substanial with the thick face, one of my biggest gripes with alot of modern gear is how flimsy & cheap looking the build quality is,the way i see it is if a guy is going to spend $1,000 on a receiver or amplifier it should look like more than a hunk of plastic or flimsy sheet metal.
I think amber is the single most annoying color there is for a display, It wouldn't be much of a big deal to make the display switch color. I have the option on a couple of other devices and it's nice to make it look the way you want it to. My Sharp TV has a green LED that doesn't annoy me in the slightest.Look at this way - at least Yamaha hasn't yet succumbed to the 'me too' attitude so prevalent in the CE industry. A few years ago, HK added the stupid blue light around the volume knob and now practically every manufacturer does the same thing. Sharp TVs have it, my Creative computer speakers have a super bright LED, my favorite receiver brand (Onkyo) does it and on and on....
Amber is far easier on the eyes than super bright Neon Blue, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder for sure.
You must be very easily distracted.I like blue too, just not in room with no light outside of the display you are using to watch a movie and a extra bright blue light to distract you.![]()
You've never seen the 1 million candlepower (yes, I exaggerate) green LED on the power button of my cable box. I resorted to putting a piece of brown packaging tape over it to tone down the brightness. You must be very easily distracted.I don't really understand how a non blinking light can distract you.
I've never seen an LCD that is bright enough to do that to me..
