Picked this up at a yard sale. Figured the driver must be worth something. I want to get it fixed up and see how it sounds. There doesn't appear to be an onboard amp, so I could use a recommendation on what to use for that. I'm assuming it probably doesn't have internal circuitry, so will I need some type of crossover? Any ideas on what this is or how to power it would be very helpful. Thank you in advance. It's a 15" driver and appears to be certain vega.

Yes, it's a Cerwin Vega. Which probably means it will be loud, but won't go all that deep at volume. So good if you want to rock out. Not so great if you're looking for home theatre rumble.

I'd probably look at one of the class D 250W or 500W monoblock models to power it. No suggestions on level and crossover control. Not something I've looked into myself for subs before.

Thanks. I'll be curious to see what happens with an amp. Looks like it is ported so I can probably change some of the sound with some foam inserts. I'll keep you posted.

The internals should just be wires from the terminals to the driver, no crossover. Most sub amps don't have an actual crossover either, just a low pass filter. The crossover would come from your pre-amp/avr in most cases. Good luck.
