Olevia 532 Stand Removal

I went to wall mount my Olevia 532H on Friday and found it impossible to remove the stand. After an hour on hold waiting for tech-support the “tech” confirmed that the stand is designed for easy removal and that removing the 8 screws was all that’s needed to remove it. The problem is that whatever the screws are screwed into spun freely and so 7 of the screws could not be removed, and when I tried the final screw something (a nut?) fell off and rattled around inside the TV. The tech swears there are no nuts involved and that I’m probably just dealing with 7 stripped out plastic posts. He’s not sure what the rattle is. So anyway sometime next week it will be on its was back to target.com and in about two to three weeks I’ll be able to try again. Has anyone else had this experience or seen the inside of a 532H? I can’t imagine that anybody would be stupid enough to use nuts to attach it.

The rattling is most likely the plastic post the screw went into that snapped off. I've seen several different items made of plastic where this happened. The tech should have suggested it as it is not at all uncommon for the posts to break due to several different factors.

If you use a flathead screwdriver and put it under the stripped out screws and lift lightly while unscrewing, they should come out. If you return the tv and have trouble with the new base, the same technique should help you to remove those screws. Some products seem to be made with what I'll call a softer type of plastic than others. These are the ones I've had issues with several times.

Good luck and Happy New Year
