Older Topics Don't Show Up

This forum would get a hell of a lot more activity if the default setting for showing topics didn't exclude any based on their age. I go to quite a few online forums and this is the only one that uses this age cut-off feature by default, every other place I go to shows all topics all the time.

Also, e-mail notification is off by default, I'm surprised this place is as active as it is.

I don't exactly understand your first gripe about the age cut-off but every forum I belong to I've had to enable "thread subscrpition" in the user cp options if I wanted to get email notifications for new posts....and I have about a dozen forums I visit regularly.

Let me find the option name...

"Default Thread Age Cut Off
You may specify a time period from which to display threads. Threads older than the age you specify will not be shown."

I think the default setting is just a month or so.

Could you expand on that, please? I can see all topics regardless of age, as far as I know. I don't recall redoing any settings for that.

EDIT: Oops. Work got in the way, and I fell behind. Never mind...

Maybe I did, too. I don't remember doing it, but I might have done that years ago.

I had just navigated to the Beginners and Audiophytes sub-forum while not logged in, and only one post showed up. The Default Thread Age Cut Off has to be set to either Show threads from last day, or Show threads from last 2 days by default. It makes the forums look dead to members-to-be.
