Old MTX speaker repair worth it?

Hi, I have a pair of 8" mtx speakers with decayed speaker foam and am wondering if the speakers are any good (and thus worth fixing). I couldn't find any info on them online as there isn't really a model number that I could make sense of and numbers didn't turn up anything. On the box, it says "MTX Digital Loudspeaker" On the speakers, it says they're 4 ohm. Numbers on speaker are 8kB829 and 91 9150. Says SCF 225 on cone. Box is about 18"x10"x4".

Just wondering if I should repair the foam--¿8" Infinity speaker repair kit for $25? or if I should put a different 8" speaker in the box... Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I don't know much. Any suggestions appreciated. Cheers!

Refoam the MTX speakers. Speaker systems are designed for a specific bass driver in a specific cabinet. They work as a team.

If you switch out the bass driver you destroy that synergy.

Besides, it's cheaper to get 'em refoamed.

The repair kits won't cost much at all and if you're handy, it isn't difficult.
