some of the older folks here (like me) might remember the heathkit stuff from their youth, since heathkit has been out of business for so long now its hard to find accurate info on most of their products especially the line of pro gear they had.

i have a heathkit AA-1640 pro amp that im looking for any info on,this amp is a beast of an amp & looks more like an overbuilt krell or mcintosh amp than it does a peice of kit gear.

anybody have a clue as to a good source for info on this amp?

Heathkit is alive.

Heathkit still exists! You can order photocopies of manuals from them directly. Their link:

I still own and use daily a Heathkit AA-29 that I built in about 1970. Good stuff.

My dad was big into Heathkit when I was a little kid. I built my first radio and an electric eye among other stuff from them when I was around 8. Let us know what the specs are for the amp. I'm curious as to how much you've liked it over the years.

BTW, I typed in "heathkit" for a google search and found several sites with lots of info, including a heathkit museum.
