OK,
So since we are all settled into the house and the build is all done, me and the wife have been talking about another vehicle, one for going out with the family that she can also use for the winter {she has a 45 minute ride to work and her regular car is a Prius, and 20 minutes of her ride is country roads}...

This has been a month long adventure, It has to be comfortable, 4x4 -good in the snow, look good {the BMW is so ugly}, and have room for us and the 2 boys {with one extra seat wouldnt be a bad idea when they bring a friend somewhere } we looked at range rovers, lexus SUV, BMW X5, Acura, Nissan Murano, Toyota {every suv they had}, Benz, and the Volvo xc90....

I was sold on the Rover and my wife was between the x5 and the volvo... Both of which I hated which when I told her that, she of course told me how she felt about my pick {needless to say not a fan of the rover}...

So a week goes by and we dont even mention it... I was glad too, because the trucks we are looking at are up to $60K...

So today my guys had an issue at a house, and I needed to go check it out {boiler stuck in a staircase, god forbid you measure the staircase before you try to shove a 700lb boiler down it, and I just had shoulder surgury so Im no help, but we got it down after about an hour} anyway, the customer has a Jeep Wrangler, I take a look at it in the driveway, while Im there getting agrivated with my guys...

This thing is nice, looks like its a beast in the snow, 4 door, heated leather, navigation, hardtop, big seats {Im 6-5" and my shoulders are pretty wide} so I was about to ask the customer about it when he came out and just started telling me all about it, he obviously loved it... Plus its made by chrysler so how much could it be? Im thinking $25K, I dont ask him about the price, and decide to take a ride by the dealership while I was out.. Now his was a standard shift, which would not work for me because my wife can not drive stick, so I dont even know if they come automatic lol...

I walk into the jeep dealership and a salesman comes to help me, I tell him what Im looking for, 4door, 4wd auto, air, power everything, leather, hardtop, ect... He takes me to the perfect truck, White with a white top, peanutbutter leather interior, t-tops removable hardtop that came with a soft top too, trail rated, just perfect {I love the white} so Im like forget my wife Im buying this thing rite now!!! {still thinking $27K tops}...

Then it happened he told me the price $47K, WTF!!! ARE YOU SERIOUS almost $50K for a jeep? I thought it was a mistake for sure, nope, the cheapest one they had was $25K 2dr, cloth, std shift, stripped, no radio lol....

So that bursts my bouble, and I am completly honest with the salesman, "sorry for wasting your time bud, but I though this thing was like $25K" he laughed and was like "they havent been that cheap in 2 decades" So Im leaving...

He stops me, "Lets look at other models".. But Im in love, I want that one, and Im not about to spend that kind of money on a jeep...

Long story short, Its parked in my driveway tonight.... But I got a really good deal on it... So it seems they havent sold a car in 3 days !! {I guees that is a huge deal, and it has been raining here for 2 weeks}.. Im the only person in the place... I got it for almost $15K under sticker... has 000012 miles on it 2013... I looked them up online while I was there, used 2012's with 15K miles on them are selling for more than I paid...

So Part 2 Bringing it home..... Stay tuned heres a pic, Ill post back on how she took me buying a car with out her...

OK, so I drop my truck at the shop and have my secratary take me to the dealership, and I drive it home... I pull in and my wife is calling my phone, "someone just pulled in the yard" {we have motion cameras that will interupt the tv} SO Im like"thats me, in my new jeep" so she says "you better have not bought a jeep".. I replyed nothing, just hung up and parked the jeep...

Before I can go in the house she comes out, and the entire way home, Im thinking, Im in so much trouble...

So she says "did you really buy this" and I was like "no, I just have it for the night, wanna go out to dinner", so she says yes, and we get the kids, and head out to dinner, I let her drive...

Long story short she loves it.... Wants me to buy it, lol...

Its a nice vehicle, if anyone is in the market for an SUV, its decent, plus free 5yr 100K warranty... It has all kind of off roading stuff too...

So wears the SUV? That's a Jeep!
I think the 2dr is considered a jeep the 4dr SUV :D I dont know wha to call it, I told my dad I got a new tuck and he was like "thats not a truck thats a Jeep"... Then my neighbor was like "new car?" and I said "yah" so I am still confused about the entire thing..

Congrats!

Wranglers are Jeeps...Just call it a Jeep.:D

Jeep's (Wranglers & CJ's & military) are a culture much like Harley Davidson's. The aftermarket is huge. Others diving their Jeeps waive to you in brotherhood just like bikers. It's a little odd to get used to.

I bought my wife a Used 2003 Wrangler (2 door / soft top / 4cyl / manual) for finishing her BS degree online. She had always wanted one. She loves it.

Not hers but same color...

Resale value has always been very good.

I looked at the 2 doors, they drive much better, but with the kids the 4 door was the selling point.... the 4cyl stick must get much better gas milage

Yah, of course they didnt have any unloaded models...
Painted hard top, painted fenders, dual top- $3500
heated leather seats, slush mats, remote start $2000
BS destination charges, ect... You get to $45K pretty fast...
Sorry, my bad.
I thought $31,781 - $33,770 was the total price range for the Rubicon.:)

It sure did lol, mine is a 2013, the pentastar and 5sp auto are both in there.. I test drive a 2010 with the old engine, WOW what a pig, and it smelt like antifreeze.. This is actually peppy and the fuel milage seems to avg 22... This motor looks a lot like a toyota design..

It's actually the entry level Jeep. Friend of mine used to drive one and it was fantastic.

I did see them, they were very affordable... And on them and every other jeep they offered tons of rebates, but the wrangler had zero... I looked up online to see how many rebates the wrangler had in the past and there was only one $500 rebate on left overs...

I guess they dont rebate them...

Its funny yesterday at least 3 people had to comment on the truck, I didnt have that many people comment on my 750i when it was brand new...

Another wrangler owner stopped me at Benny's and he had a 2 week old sahara, his had a hardtop {black} and cloth interior, he paid $3K more than me... So I feel pretty good about the price...

Wranglers always have sold well for Jeep, rarely have I seen rebates or discounts on them. They also tend to hold their value well, even beat up ones.

The Pentastar should be pretty good in that thing, it moves my wife's charger around nicely. Be sure to read up on how to use the locking axles so you don't damage the diff/axles.

I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee that I've had for about 10 years now, and while I like it, I'm not completely thrilled with it. Definitely feels American in build quality. Just a general rattling to my car which really was never present with the Toyota I had before it.

But, I've gotten over 200,000 miles from it and I'm about to get rid of it. It is definitely an SUV vs. their more Jeeplike offerrings. But, for 4-wheel traction as a family friendly and snow friendly vehicle it has definitely been phenomenal compared to our other vehicles. It is, by far, my biggest disappointment in getting rid of it. When other vehicles couldn't get up our neighborhood road, the Jeep started (on the hill) and drove right past them without any issue at all.

Terrible gas milage and only so-so overall build quality. Not poor, but not excellent.
Good room for me, decent hauling capability, good reliability.

I'm not sure I would buy one again, but I'm not upset at having owned one either.

I wish you as much luck with it over the years as I have had and in the snow I think is when you will appreciate it the most.

The new Grand Cherokees have been much improved over previous generations. Don't discount them too soon because of past experiences :D
