OK, after looking into buying a set of speakers for my office PC, I got to thinking. That usually gets me into trouble. I bet I can make a 2.1 system for my pc. First, for the Sub I wanted to use my Dayton 10" that I am not really using at home and basically build a 12" sealed cube with my datyon 250w plate amp at the rear. Here is the part I need help with. I need an amp that will use the single 3.5mm jack output (I can get an RCA adapter if needed) that I can power 2 small speakers (maybe 2 of those little cheap daytons that people use for rear channels). In addition to the amp powering those 2 small speakers, I would use the 2 output channels (I would split the wires) as a high level input for the sub. I would do the EQ'ing with windows media player. I thing I can get much highter output levels this way versus buying a cheap set of mass produced junk. Input please. Thanks.

hmmm, I just came across this little deally.

Think that would cut it. Also, if I used a 3.5mm to (2) RCA "Y" adapter, is that split into and actual left and right channel? I don't want mono. It has been awhile since I used a jack of that size for anything other than headphones.

thanks

edit: I edited the url so that it would be easily understood what to replace the root address with:p

I didn't get that link to work, so I couldn't see what you were talking about...but I use an adapter to connect my pc to my stereo. You need to make sure to get a STEREO adapter not a mono adapter so you will have both left and right signals.

Ok, so after looking into this more I have come up with this. From the single output on the computer I would use a 3.5mm to stereo RCA splitter and then split those 2 outputs one more time so that there would be one stereo RCA set going to the mini amp which would power the 2 main speakers and the other set would go to the input on a plate amp powering a sub. I am also thinging of building a small 8" Tang Band W8-740C 8". Any recomendations on a set of decent higher sensitivity, small sized speakers that would do a little system like this justice?
