OK. About to take the plunge on Denon 5308-ci

I've posted before that I'm updating from my 4802 for the latest connections and processing. It seems that if there are going to be updates made to the Denon line-up, they will be coming in the next few months. I think I'm getting a good deal @ $3,200, all in for a brand new unit with manufacturer's warranty.

All that said, do you guys think the new units drive the price of the 5308 much lower, offer better processing in the possible separates at a similar price, or give me some other reason to wait? HDMI 1.4 - a big deal?

I've also looked at the possibility of "settling" for the 4810 for around $2,000, but I think I want the superior processing, etc.

I'm currently running a 5.1 system, but will likely make it 7.1 soon.

Most:p thoughts and input will be appreciated.

Seriously, thanks in advance!

Call me whatever nasty names you like, but 2310, 3310 and 4310 are not under consideration.

Only you know what you want, and what future wants might be. Some people will prefer the 4810, for ITS superior processing. What are you specifically looking at when you say the 5308 is superior with processing? (Honest question, I rarely look at this price point).

The 4810 gets you 9.1. Will you need it?

The 4810 gets you DSX. Will you need it?

The 5308 gets you XLRs. Will you need it?

If it was me, I'm going with 4810, and the money in the pocket is all gravy.

In fact, can you PM where it sells for $2,000? Because that is a very excellent price for that unit, AFAIK.

I won't call you any nasty names, not a chance, but the 4310 is most likely worthy of consideration for your unnamed (modest?) needs.

Emotiva's performance, as reported by many, is compelling. Their proven on-again, off-again product availablity along with my perceived concern about potential quality issues are game changers. I'm big on being established and I don't want to buy into a start-up by comparison to Denon. If Emotiva had their top line processor consistently available, then replaced it with a new processor, I believe they had a DMC line, I would likely have been interested. I certainly was at this time last year, but no longer. When you go months without any product for sale on your website, you lose me. Sorry.

Really, I'm looking for someone to make a good-to-really good case for the 4810 over the 5308, or why the 5308 will come down in price due to new releases by Denon in the spring, or why I should wait and buy one of the Denon products in the spring.

I've had the Denon 4802 for 5-6 years and it's been awesome in my eyes/ears. I have no desire to take a perceived step down from the "4" series and I don't care to buy something based only on internet reviews in this instance. I say that because I would love to get an SVS PC Ultra-13 at some point.

I've only been part of this website for a month or so, but I've been reading here for over a year and have been looking to this day for at least that long.

Sounds like you just gotta have that Denon Flagship.:D

I've had the Denon AVR-5308CI for about a year now, and I still like it a lot.

So if you are just looking for our "blessings", you GOT IT!:D

I approve!!!:)
