As one who has not quite got over the hump of understanding the ohm rating I have a question. I've got a Yamaha RX-V1800 and the Emotiva XPA-5 and I just purchased a pair Jamo c803's. I'm guessing just hook them up to the XPA-5 and no problem right. I also have a pair of Paradigm Studio 40's and Paradigm cc470. Would there be a problem with the 8 ohm and 6 ohms hooked to the same amp?

I'm somewhat unclear as to what you're asking.

Assuming that last pair is being connected to to the same two amp channels, their combined rated impedance is around 3.4+ ohms.

If your receiver is rated to four ohms andand neither speaker dips too far below their rated impedance (many do) then you should be somewhat safe at low to moderate levels. No guarantees at high levels, though. Actually, no guarantees either way.

Oh, wait... do you mean hooking all three pairs of speakers up to the same two amp channels? If so, that's playing with fire.

Now, if each speaker is connected to their own channel. you should be fine.

You should be fine as long as you don't run them in the same channels as Mark has already said.....I have Jamos and they run just fine with my Yammie

If you are asking if it's okay to hook up all five speakers (pair of Jamo C803s, pair of Paradigm Studio 40s, and the Paradigm CC-470) to the Emotiva XPA-5, then the answer is yes. I would not expect that amp to have an issue with having speakers of those impedances connected to it.

Yes that's what I'm asking. I thought it would not be a problem but just wanted to make sure. Thanks guys for your help.

Each channel has its own amp module, so therefore you can mix and match speakers at will, as long as each speaker is on its own channel.
