No offense taken (markw is curmudgeonly :) ). You didn't speak out of turn, it's your thread! You have some good reasons for a proper amp, and may well be a good candidate for one. A more cost effective way to get some good power is a pro amp, I've used Crown XLS amps for example, quite living room friendly except perhaps for their aesthetic. Curious, before your current speakers what did you have that didn't tax the amp so much?
