I have 2 older receivers, a Pioneer Elite VSX92 and an Arcam FMJ AVR380. I like the sound of the Arcam a little better than the pioneer, but the pioneer has a few extra DSP’s that I really like, also one thing I don’t like about the Adcom is that I can’t really make on the fly adjustments like I can with the pioneer, my question is if it’s possible to hook the two together so I can use the Arcam for amplifying and the Pioneer just for decoding. The arcam doesn’t have multi channel in,
Only preouts, which makes me think it isn’t possible, but I thought it wouldn’t hurt to ask.

Hard to know what that "sound" is particularly that you think you're hearing and whether it would still exist after using the units together. If you wanted to use the Pioneer as a pre-pro then yes the Arcam would require an analog multich set of inputs which it doesn't seem to have, assuming you want multich audio. The Arcam is slightly less powerful as an amp, too.
