Noob with some drivers

So over the summer, I got some drivers salvaged from a rotting speaker box.

6 Bozak model 800, 16 ohms
6 Bozak Model 450, 8 ohm
5 Bozak 200 Y, and an ebay thing said 8 ohm.

Before now, the only speakers I've ever had are some cheap **** computer ones.

I got an old stereo with 8 to 16 ohms per speaker.

So my problem is that Bozak kinda died 1977. Kinda, as it just got sold.
But there is almost no information on these drivers that most of the tutorials on designing a speaker box say I need, and is provided by manufacturer.

There was a yahoo group of some of the old engineers, but it seems dead, and they didn't respond to my attempt to join.(Did you know yahoo will let you log in with google. That just amused me.)

So I know I need some circuits to separate out the frequencies so the sub only plays the low frequencies, and the mid only plays the mid, and the tweeter only plays the high, but I have no idea how to design this, and I have no idea what the cutoff frequencies should be for each speaker, as the graphs don't exist for these.

So I just need lots of help getting the electronic schematics, and figuring out the stuff for the physical box.

Don't waste your time. Put your time and effort into something that might actually work.

Because the drivers are old and they were never very good.

You need to invest in measuring gear to measure the T/S parameters of the drivers and measure their acoustic response. This is not a beginners project, and you will have significant funds invested in test gear, before you buy components and building materials.

In the end you will not have speakers that are even close to modern performance standards.

As we usually recommend to others we these sorts of posts, get your feet wet with a kit of proven worth and performance.

I understand that these are pretty terrible and outdated drivers, but I cannot afford better. If there's not anything I can do to just put these together, I'm just not going to have speakers.

Btw - welcome to the forum, and have fun/good luck in college!

I know nothing about those drivers, but for the price of electronics and a box, you might just be able to buy some new speakers that you'd like. For example, Fry's has Infiniti 163 bookshelf pairs on sale for $107. From what I've read, that a great deal. You might not be able to get that one, but there are other deals that pop up. You can also get some good deals on used speakers.

My point is that you can get some at-least-decent speakers for your freshman year that shouldn't cost you much. I sure remember those days...I had something like $10/week to spend on stuff other than school, so I know what having no money is like. If you decide not to build your own, you might get some money from those drivers, too.

Okay, thanks for the advice both of you. I guess I'll just continue having no speakers. I didn't really need them, but I had drivers, and wanted to make it work.

Then buy a couple of these drivers and put them in a 1 to 2 liter sealed box, full of Polyfill. They will perform light years ahead of any of the drivers now in your possession.

When funds allow build a sub.
