I have my cable connected with component cables, only because my provider doesnt provide cable boxes with HDMI connections.

I have the component cables running into my reciever but when i switch over to the cable channel on my reciever it only supplies me with audio -NO VIDEO-

I have checked and double checked and i cant see a problem with the set up. i have them in the correct input.

when i take the video components out of my reciever and put them directly into my tv. i can get video. and i leave the audio into my reciever i can still get the surrond sound.

I would like to have everything run into my reciever becuase of the setup i have pictured in my head.

can anyone inform me as to why im not getting audio feed.

Thanks,

DH

What make and model reciever do you have?

Some models you have to set your monitor out to be component or HDMI etc.

Are you running component cables out of the reciever to the TV or are you using HDMI. If so it may not "upconvert" to HDMI from component.

I have a Sony 7.1 Channel A/V Receiver (STRDG820)

YOu could be right about the up convert. How do you check?

with my digital cable i have component to reciever and HDMI from the reciever. and there is a problem.

with my xbox i have HDMI in and HDMI out and there is no problems. i get clear audio and video.

A quick google search gave a thread from avforums and the thread indicated this model does not upconvert to HDMI. You would have had to go to the 920 to get that feature. A review at CNET also states this. Sorry it looks like you will have to run component as well as HDMI.

oh ok... so as long as i put HDMI in I can get HDMI out... i will just have to hook the video up directly to the TV.

no biggie i guess just a few little changes and i can make it work.

Thanks again,

DH

No problem.

Yes HDMI in HDMI out. It looks like it will upconvert analog so if you used S-video it would go out on Component. So HDMI for the x-box and component for the Cable card. If you have a universal remote you can add programming that will change your tv input as well as the receiver so it will make switching a bit easier.

Good luck,

Craig
