Hi,
I am new into the forums and have browsed lots of thread and I am not technical gifted for those stuff.
I recently bought Marantz SR6006 and KEF KHT 3005SE . My TV is Sony Bravia KDL-55HX923

HDMI cable goes from PS3 to SR6006 (GAME input).
HDMI cable goes from TV to SR6006 (HDMI out 1).

Internet radio goes from speakers as they should no problem..
But the TV has no image, but I don't care, the PS3 have image but no sound.. That's more annoying, I have checked on the TV sound settings.. It's on Audio system. And the PS3 is configured for HDMI audio.
So what am I missing? And how do I solve everything?

Welcome to the forum!

In general regarding not hearing sound from your input sources, be sure to read the portion of the manual related to assigning input jacks to your sources. You might need to explicitly assign the HDMI input as the audio input.

For the case of not getting audio from the TV through your Marantz, I think that you'll need to connect an audio cable besides the HDMI that you mentioned. While the Marantz has ARC (audio return channel), I don't see a mention of your Sony TV having that capability. Try connecting the optical output on the Sony to an input on the Marantz.

I will buy an optical cable today to put from TV to Marantz.. Will I need one more optical cable from PS3 to Marantz as well?

Hi. No, you should not need another cable from the PS3. I believe that it just needs to be configured correctly - like you said, something's just not right, yet. My first guess is what I mentioned above, which is to make sure that the inputs are assigned correctly in the menu on the Marantz.

The PS3 does not automatically use HDMI for audio so you also want to go into the Audio Settings of the PS3 to ensure that the audio output type that you are using is set to HDMI. If this is a new receiver, then it may not have been set that way previously. I know my PS3 likes to go to HDMI for audio, but I actually need it to use Optical for the audio source.

So, double check that your PS3 is actually sending audio out of the HDMI port.

Then make sure your receiver is on the 'game 1' input (it should be if you have picture)

Make sure your receiver is set to use HDMI for audio by default (it should be)

Make sure the game 1 HDMI input is assigned to use game 1 HDMI for audio (it should be)

That should do it.

Thanks guys for you help :) Now I realized something also, which is very simple.. which was mentioned.. I think I inserted the HDMI cable from TV to Marantz from HDMI 2 port on the tv.. which as no ARC.. because it was closer.. I am going to try to plug HDMi cable to HDMI 1 (ARC). And magic should happen..

To refresh this thread, it looks like this now..

Sony HX923 (HDMI 1 ARC) hdmi cable to receiver HDMI out 1
PS3 hdmi cable to receiver input hdmi "game"

When I watch TV I have sound from my speakers which I didn't have before. Because the HDMI wasn't plugged into the ARC. So what do I have to do to have sound from my PS3 on the speakers? HDMI should be enough right?
