No sound from the Sub

Hi all, i wonder if i could get some help.

I have recently upgraded my AVR to the Denon S760H hoping that it would fix my issue with my sub but it did not unfortunately.

on the bottom of my sub there is an LED which is red in stanby mode blue when recieving signal. i don't know if these are exactly the speaker set i own but certainly look similar Onkyo SKS-HT993THX so they are a good few years old now.

The Sub seems to come out of standby indicated by the blue LED but i get no sound at all. I can fix it by a simple power cycle so it's not the end of the world but where the sub is located in an awkward place so isn't ideal and would be great if i could fix it if anybody has heard of this or know what i can check to fix.

The problem is the sub, and it's on its way out. That is an end of life problem for that sub as it is now requiring what we call frequent soft resets.

Connected trough RCA/Jack? I had this with an amp before. The signal was to low and did not take it from Stand-By. But when the signal was there and I turned on and off it did work. I had to change settings for the RCA output so the signal was stronger. Never had problems after that.

Look if your output device have anything like high/low level. I think that was the setting I had to change.

Maybe also check with another cable first if you have. Ive had failing cables before.

It is connected with an RCA cable, that is a good shout, i may try replacing that cable with a better one!

I don't see any setting to change the power of the channel though, only the decebels or is that the same thing?

Are your speakers set to small on the the Denon?

Yes, i ran the auto setup with the mic and it set them to that.

What was the pre-existing situation with the sub before you changed avr?

It was the same on the privous avr, The light would turn blue to show it was recieving signal but no sound until power cycled.

It seems that once the sub has gone into sleep it will wake up again and work, but if it was in sleep for a few hours it won't, until cycled.

Ye probably not. But one should rule it out before buying new gear like AVR and Amp/Speaker.

It more to be sure it not a damaged cable or something before getting new devices etc. Cables can act up at times. So either use the cable somewhere else and see if it works. Or use another cable on the sub to see if that changes anything. If not it is most likely the amp in the sub since you ruled out the AVR.
