No sound from 2 ch Stereo/direct mode w/ Denon

Hey ya'all,
I have a Denon 2808CI that I can't seem to play sound with Cd's played through my Denon 2910. I have an anolog connection for CD purposes going from the 2910 to the 2808.
The weird thing is that if I play a CD in Dolby PLIIx there is sound, but as soon as I swithc to direct mode there is only sound coming from the subwoofer. I don't know what settings to change to get it to play in 2 ch stereo mode.

May be you have not selected "Auto" in your input mode setup (manual p.33,34).

I know this topic is 8 months old, but I'm having the same problem with a Denon 988.

Did anyone post a useful reply or solution?

Microprocessor reset fixed the problem.
