So I'm setting up my aunties home audio system. Now I got all the speakers connected and working with ease no problem but for some reason her subwoofer amp receiver won't turn on, its plugged into the wall and turned on but there's no power at all so I can't test the bass. Its a Sony mu-te-ki the power amps no. is TA-KMSW500. I've tried looking up for manuals on the Sony site but they don't have it and I can't contact support after hours (thanx daylight savings) if anyone knows of any ideas or had the same problem and found out what it is just anything to help would be big. I'm usually good with electronics but I don't wanna open it and look inside cause its not mine and with my luck make it worse so if anyone can help me would be appreciated thanks
What is this system? I fear it is some type of ghastly HTIB.
That Sony amp looks like an odd duck. It is not available and Sony have withdrawn all support. It looks like the worst piece of Far Eastern Junk.
My guess is none of them work. I would just cut your losses and take that unit to the recycling center.
We need to know however what the rest of the system is, as I fear this may be some type of dreadful proprietary HTIB of which your odd looking sub amp is part. Without this information we can not tell you if that system is compatible with any type of replacement.
We get these situations occur regularly and the usual and best advice is "Junk the lot!"
