PopAdult
ContemporaryChristian
EasyListening (my favorite selection)
Standards
RockandRoll

FrancoPop
Nostalgie
FrancoRetro

With the small Sharp Aquos TV speakers in the kitchen it's nice. With my sound system in my HT room, it's simply terrific.

I have Dishnetwork, with Sirius radio. I always thought the sound was compressed, and more on the MP3 level then a CD. Never impressed with the sound. What cable provider do you have? Maybe my dishnetwork music just stinks.

Direct TV also has a lot of music channels along with some sort of XM broadcast too I think. Always thought the sound was OK for background listening..but not even close to a well produced cd.

My cable provider is Videotron. These "Galaxie" music channels are transmitted in MPEG 2 format with a bitrate of 192 Kbps. In my sound system, the reception is certainly CD quality and no background humming or interference.

If I leave the TV ON, the display tells me who the artist is, the CD album reference and then what artist is coming next.

Time Warner Cable has Music Choice too. I beg to differ with the idea that there is no longer any need to buy CDs though. Just like listening to the radio, you have no control over what is played and when.

To have ambient or Easy Listening music when receiving guests for diner, no need to put a stack of CDs in the player, like my son in law needs to do.

Sure if I want to listen to Renee Oldstead sing her beautiful jazz renditions, I'll put her CD in the player. But 10:1 chances are that I'll rather put concert DVDs in the 5 disc changer...

For filling the room with music or do some serious listening with closed eyes, this availability of music via the digital cable terminal is great to have.

DishNetwork also offers "CD" channels and I've found that these offer superior sound quality to the Sirius channels. I agree, those sound compressed.

Thats a good point, I think i've only fooled around with the Sirius channels, and not the CD ones, I assume they would be just as bad. I'll check it out tonight.
