thats my old setup/lay out. We pulled up the carpet, and now my theater is on the short wall, rather then the long one. Not having that carpet made the room look much neater. The surronds were easier to place aswell, before the were more side surround then back and they are both together.

heres pics, enjoy.

Being a carpet installer, I kinda liked it  You should see some of the stuff I've put in, in hotels, casinos, even did the new [newer] Miller Park [home of the Brewers  ]

Now the question is what are you going to do with it? Seeing a bare floor gets my creative juices flowing.

when my parents redo the basement, which is not soon, I will have rosewood laminent(typo?) floors. I'm going to get a rub for that area to help with reflections, but that is all i can do for now.

Wow that room is really reflective with wall panels, brick walls, and bare concrete floor..
How is the sound now. Is it totally different. Maybe when you put in the area rug it may have very little effect in that room.
I have wood floors, and the sound is great to me. I could use some slight wall treatments.. But not at this place, when my new place is finished I'll get into all that.
EDIT:: Oh, and IMO I think the bare floor does look a little better. But carpet down there (1 color carpet) might be better than wood floors. But this is IMO, however for looks, the wood floors (laminate) may actually look better. If its going to be bare for awhile, maybe think about using a epoxy paint...

The walls are not brick, they are drywall, with a lame plaster design. The black part of the wall is wood board overtop concrete. I can see the confusion as my camera stinks.

I don't know what others think, but the concrete helped the bass response alot. My suwboofer is alot louder then it used to be. Still going to replace it though.

This is why I had suggested that you may like it, and just paint the floor for aesthetics at the moment until wood floors go in...
