No Dolby TrueHD on new receiver

I just bought a new Denon 4310ci receiver and connected it to my Sony BDP-S350 blu ray player. I put in the Dark Knight blu ray to check out Dolby TrueHD but my receiver shows that the movie is not playing in Dolby TrueHD. At first my receiver was reading "multi ch in" for the surround format. I changed some settings on my BD player and now the receiver reads "Dolby Digital." But none of the Dolby TrueHD decoder indicators are lit up on the receiver. I've read that some people have experienced similar problems playing Dolby TrueHD with their PS3s because the PS3 does the decoding. I'm wondering if I'm encountering the same problem because it's a Sony BD player. I've set the BDP audio settings as follows:

Audio Output Priority: HDMI
Audio (HDMI): Auto
BD Audio Settings: Direct
Audio ATT: off
Dolby Digital: Dolby Digital
DTS: DTS
48Khz/196Khz PCM: 96Khz/24 bit (guessing this is the better setting)
Audio DRC: Auto
Downmix: Normal

Did you select the True HD track in the movie's menu? You need to if you didn't.

Pretty sure I did. I can try again though. I just checked if the same problem would happen when I tried a blu ray with DTS Master Audio HD. I put in Miami Vice, picked DTS-HD MA format in the setup screen and it worked flawlessly. The format lights for DTS-MA HD came up and everything.

I think the Dark Knight one says Eng Dolby Lossless or something like it for the audio track; that'd be the one to pick if it wasn't before.

I must be an idiot. Just tried to see if I'd have the same problem with my Starship Troopers blu ray. Put it in, selected Dolby TrueHD and it worked perfectly. After I made the tweaks on my blu ray player that successfully changed the format on my receiver screen from "multi chan in" to "Dolby Digital" I must've forgotten to select Dolby TrueHD on the Dark Knight blu ray. Glad everything is working now. Just seeing my receiver read "Dolby TrueHD" seems to make the movies sound better. Thanks for your help...I feel like a dummy though.

Nah, I do it all the time! So do other folks who work with me; it'd be easier if they all defaulted to one or the other, that'd be helpful to everyone I think.

Good! Glad that fixed you up. The Dark Knight defaults to Dolby Digital, and the True HD track has to be manually selected.
