Trent just released his new album today, The Slip.

As a way of saying thanks to the fans, it is available to download in four different formats.

.mp3
.flac
.m4a
.wav

The .wav files are 24/96 high resolution DVD-Audio quality files!

Very cool of Trent Reznor to do this.

Around the 3 minute mark of Discipline.... wow bass is enabled.

(oh wow... I think my window got blown out)

Very cool indeed for NIN to offer this for free via download. I liked it when Radiohead did a similar thing by offering their latest album from their website at whatever price you felt was right to pay.

My respect for both of these bands just went up a few notches. :) I'm downloading the m4a lossless tracks at the moment, via bittorrent - which is actually rather slow for some reason. Can't wait to crank this up and have a listen. :D

So which is the best format to download for transfer to CD so I can listen to them?

I thought I heard Radiohead has stopped doing that now.

FLAC would be the most fitting for CD. I believe a FLAC is pretty much CD ripped.

I can only hear those notes with the Maxell headphones, the Sony Dream system satellites don't go that low.:D

Finally got around to listening to this today - wow. Very good album, at first listen far better than Year Zero, which seemed just a little too contrived for me and not the best material NIN has ever put out. And for free!! Who can beat that?

Thanks Trent! :)

EDIT: Wait, I've got to move this over to my real system and let the SVS sub see what it can do with the low end on the song "Discipline" as someone pointed out. I'll post the results shortly. :D

I listened to it on my way into work today. I agree with your assessment in that its a good album. I think I like it better than his last one. My favourite of his is "The Fragile"

Playing Wav Files

How would I play the files off of my computer, its too big for normal CD's. Could I put it on my ipod, through my 360 to my system? Or put it on a removable hardrive then to the 360?
