Does any one have any experience the the SATA drive dock by Voyager (or any other that might apply). My AGP slot died on my desktop(running XP Pro) and im wondering if using this dock and the xp hard drive(have 3) will i be able to run software via xp thru my vista laptop. Ive got remote control programs that will not use vista/microsoft active sync, but only xp.
thanks in advance

I interpret this as, you want to run the programs you have installed on that hard drive, which ran XP, through the SATA dock, which connects through USB/FW/eSATA, on your laptop, which is running Vista.

Short answer, no.

Long answer, it depends on the programs. You could map the external drive (that's all the SATA docks do, make hard drives into externals) and run the program executables, but they're not guaranteed to work. First you'd have to know if they're Vista-compatible. Second, do they have registry key entries that are required to run? Plenty of other things to consider, but those are the major ones.

Don't know what you mean, but I interpret as remote PC control stuff, like remote desktop, VNC, Terminal Services, VPN, something along those lines. Some have their own software-based adaptors installed, so they won't work. Others you can just install in Vista.

If you mean remote controls like URC and Harmony, just reinstall them.

If you mean something else, I don't freagin know...

If your general base problem is, you have programs that don't run in Vista, go get the free version of VMWare, I believe it's ESXi now, and install XP on a virtual OS. Easiest solution.
