A stupid question from a newbie....
I have heared audio system where you feel the singer is right in the room or you're in live concert. My system doesn't sound no where near that no matter how good my calibration is. What am I doing wrong?

Many factors

There are many factors that affect sound, and the way it is preceived in your room. First: try speaker placement..just an inch can make all the difference, also if you tip the speaker back a few degrees it can improve the sound image. Second: wall treatments play a big roll. If you have damping panels on the wall try moving those...if not get some. Third: try moving the listening position. Fourth...time for better speakers? Remember this: Every room is different...your room is not going to sound the same as the soud room at the store. Play around with the placement of things, and see how that works. Remember it is what sounds good to you, not the guy selling the stuff.
