Newbie Question For Denon 3805 Owners...

Hello gang. I'm a newbie to this forum and was hoping to get a question answered on a recent purchase of a Denon 3805 receiver. This was an upgrade to an Onkyo TX-SV545 surround receiver. All I can say is WOW, this is a nice receiver. This receiver is driving Boston Acoustics speakers and I am really happy with the sound. Now with that out of the way, the question I have is with the remote control. When the remote detects motion, it turns on the backlight and I can hear a slight buzzing sound from the remote. Is this normal? Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

I posted this question regarding the remote for my Denon AVR-3806, but I never heard from anybody about it.

The remote works fine, just an electronic buzz when it lights up; have to hold the remote pretty close to your head to hear it, but it's definately there.

Thanks Brad - appreciate your response. Either the slight buzzing is normal or we both have a defective remote, let's hope the latter not being the case. It would be nice to hear from others to further confirm if what Brad and I are hearing is normal. -Norm

I had a universal remote once that did that; Kameleon, maybe?

I couldn't stand it late at night when listening quietly, so it hit the "junk drawer".

Hmmm, well you can barely hear the buzzing only when the backlight is on. Once you set the remote down and the backlight goes out in a few seconds, all is quiet again. Interesting note though about the Kameleon. -Norm

Yeah, it only did it when the light was on, but it was so sensitive, the light came on constantly.

The faint buzzing on the remote is absolutely normal and should simply be attributed to the fact that Denon made a really cool, yet crappy, remote for an otherwise awesome A/V receiver.

Happy Owner,

J. (non-remote user)

I just picked mine up (RC-995), and I have no buzzing at all. I don't remember my other two buzzing either. (sent the first one back b/c it was a black foil 1st generation - hard to see in bright light; sent the second one back b/c it started to crack in the center - don't sit on it!).

Keep in mind, these remotes have an extended 2 year warranty because of all the issues plaguing them. If you're not happy, Denon will swap it out for you - no questions asked. They are one of the best companies I've ever dealt with.

The 3805 uses the RC995, while the 3806 uses the RC-1024 remote.

Here's a question to those who have used BOTH remotes, the RC-995 (from the AVR-3805) & the RC-1024 (from the AVR-3806). Which remote do you prefer?

When the 3806 came out, I heard several people complaining about the new RC-1024 remote (this is the only one I've used since I only own the AVR-3806), but is the previous model (the RC-995) really better?

For daily use, either remote would probably work on either the 3805 or 3806, so if the RC-995 was that much better of a remote, I'll just pick one up on eBay. I always could use an extra remote for controlling a second zone anyhow.

My rc-995 for my 3805 also makes that same noise....it doesn't bother me and like you said it does go off in few sec. Most of the time there's so much noise going on in my house I never here it....lol:)

Thanks Everyone! Appreciate The Feedback...

Seems like this remote has a tendency to produce low buzzing noise when backlit. At least, I feel better now knowing that the remote is covered for two years. -Norm
