What do you expect the avr to do to the video signal that your Samsung display won't? I let my Samsung plasma tv do all processing....

this is the functionality missing in the 7009 - but on the 6010 is present

'HDCP 2.2 is the digital content protection system that's used for 4K video sources like Ultra HD Blu-ray. A receiver with HDCP 2.2 will pass 4K video content to your compatible TV via its HDMI connections.'

Is my understanding that if from the Player i go to the AV receiver , then to the tv i wont pass a 4k video . am i correct? even if my tv will support it

a solution will be go from the player to the TV for the video signal and from the player to the AV receiver for the audio signal. but the samsung model i am planning to buy have only 1 HDMI out and one Digital out ... is that enough ? HDMI to tv then optical to AV? does the optical support 5.1?

That's why I suggested getting a 4k bluray player that has dual hdmi output....so your current avr can do what you want, but the video goes directly to your Samsung tv. Your avr is not likely to process better than the Samsung tv IME but what model do you have?

By lovely software you mean an HDMI-CEC application? Granted, another Samsung probably would work best, but others can as well....or a universal remote can often be even a better solution.

For lovely software i mean this : if you see the pictures below i am using the TV as player. The Samsung software is awesome, its enough for me to put my finger in an area of the remote ad immediately a cursor will appear on the screen (the round point on top left in the image 8819), that is an extension of my finger on the screen . I can see the bar of the movie and go ahead or back moving my hand right or left (like playing tennis in a ninendo wifi, the cursor will follow my hand in any angle of the TV ) not to mention how is easy when i surf in net to type names .... its extremely fast no need to waste time to reach 30 min movie left the night before ... if i use a blue ray Samsung it will sync automatically and i will use the same remote and TV futures to manage the blue ray too ... only 1 remote for 2 devices ( a universal remote wont make the cursor appear). Now i use an LG and to reach 30 min movie will take me 15 min from the beginning of the movie with a speed X5 :(:(:(.
That is why i am keen to use Samsung as media player , i know other media players are fast too but still ... scroll up and down arrows on a remote to reach the menu watching your hand if you pressed the right arrow ... compared of 1 cursor and a digital menu appear on the screen ready to do what ever i want, no need to look at the remote i look at the tv and point my hand... way way way faster..

Congrats! That's a good price for the 7010. I know the 7009 is very capable, even with 4 ohms speakers, the 7010 should be as good plus HDCP2.2.
