To me, HIGH END includes Definitive Technology (SURPRISE:D), Magnepan, Martin Logan, Thiel, Wilson Audio, Revel, Mirage, and Vienna Acoustics.
But I guess any speakers costing over $2,000 a pair would be HIGH END:)

Inpressive manufacturer list. I would check into B&W 600 series while you are there. You should be able to build a tower system with them, and a HSU sub, for around 3k. I wouldn't listen to the 800 series though. That will make you not want the 600's.:(

Bjorn's in San Antonio is a huge store, plenty of selection. Also since you live in Houston just goto the Home Theater Store. They are pretty much strictly B&W with Rotel and Classe electronics. But the new 600 Series would be right up your alley.

Really? That low? I would have said anything over $15,000.

Oh, yeah. I'll call it, and raise you $250,000 per pair of speakers (Marten Coltrane Supreme speakers). Now that's HIGH END.

But High-End doesn't necessarily mean high cost. If a $2,000 pair of speakers sound as good as a $15,000 pair of speakers, I would consider the $2K speakers high-end.

Just like anything else, don't you reach a point of diminishing returns?
Does a $250K pr speakers sound that much better than a $15K pr speakers or even a $5K pr speakers?

Of course, if I were Bill Gates, I would get a $2,000,000 pr speakers:D

I'm sure it has 20 karat diamonds for tweeters, midranges, and subwoofers:D

I figure that if I can fit a speaker on my credit card, it's not high end enough.

That's a good point:)

So in other words, High-End means that it's too high to buy:)

I would venture to say if we are talking to "joe public" then we likely all have hi-end speakers. Now if we are talking amongst us; then the definition may be different.

Really? That low? I would have said anything over $15,000.

Are you SERIOUS?
Is that room dimension a typo?

Okay. I recommend this really cheap system: DefTech BP7000SC x 5 because you will need the five 14" 1,800-watts subwoofers:)
