Newbie Needs Basic Info, help!

I have had an entry level Polk 5.1 system for years
I am picking up my B&W 804S tomorrow and
need some help with basic speaker cable and interconnects.

The Polks have been driven by my Yamaha with the Red bare
wired to the Red Terminal, and the black the same, this is
traditional/conventional wiring, right?

So, I want to Bi Wire the 804S mains & center to my new Outlaw 7500 AMP.
Is this simply 2 wires for each the red and black (High Frequencies/Low Freq)?

If yes, I do not get the point, 2 wires or 1 single wire in to the same terminal, isn't this basically the same amount of cable?

Also, if I do BiAmp, the interconnect will tell the receiver the AMP is driving my mains/center?
Since I will not drive these speaks w/ my Yammie (they will drive the 2 surrounds)
I was wondering how the media will be processed?

Bi-amping requires two "like" amps running into each speaker. I think your Outlaw is a 5 ch. amp with 200 watts/ch...correct? I would just let the Outlaw handle the nasty work and use your AVR as a pre/pro.

Yes, you would have two red wires attached to the amp terminal for each speaker and two black wire doing the same. Then, one set goes to the red and black, low, at the speaker and the other to the high. You would also remove the jumper at the speakers between those two sets.

If you bi-amp, you need to have a Y adaptor at each channel pre outs that you want to bi-amp, run an interconnect to each amp for each channel, then one pair of speaker cable to the high and one from the other amp for that channel to the low terminal on that speaker. Then, you will have to level match your system in the end.

Since you mention upgrading from an entry level system make sure you use quality speaker wire to connect from the new amp to the new speakers. It doesn't have to say "Monster" or anything flashy, as long as it is 12 AWG or 14 AWG copper you should be fine.

I would recommend starting with a regular configuration of 1 set of speaker connections and 1 amp channel per speaker. In this case, analog RCA connections will go from the receiver's pre-amp output to the amp for each channel and of course speaker wire from the amp to the speaker.

If you want to bi-amp later, you will use an RCA splitter from each receiver channel to 2 different Amp channels and 2 sets of speaker wires for each of the main speakers.
