Newbie lost on what speaker cable(s) to buy

I need help translating the owner's manual for how to use my Definitive Technology BP7004 speaker(s) as a subwoofer.

I do not have a dedicated subwoofer and the wife said no more speakers to clutter up the living room. So I figured I could use the BP7004's to accomplish the task. Sure it's not the best solution, but it's what I have to work with.

My confusion comes in regarding the cables I need.

What I assumed is that I'd "pick" one of the two BP7004's to designate it as the sub and then I would use the LFE input on the speaker and connect that back to my receiver (Denon AVR 4306) where the sub connection is. Thought that sounded pretty simple and inexpensive.

But reading the Owner's manual that came with the speakers, it's suggesting I buy a "Y" connector and plug the "Y" connector into the receiver and then run a connection from the receiver out to BOTH of the BP7004 speakers. That sounded a bit crazy to me - and a quick search on the internet didn't turn up any obvious places to buy a "Y" connector - so I'm a bit lost.

Where do I find this magic "Y" connector?

Assuming I do find it, is that really what I should be doing, or is there a better way to do this, that does not involve buying a dedicated subwoofer?

Also, the local Best Buy had cables from Monster that were listed as "Audio" cables and also as "SubWoofer" cables - they both seemed overpriced to me, but I wasn't sure if there is any real difference between a "SubWoofer" cable and a "Audio" cable. Not a big fan of Monster cable in the first place....
