Newbee Wiring Question

i have just decided on the receiver, bookshelf speakers, and sub is going to be on my 1st HT system. I have a question on what kinda of wires i need to be using. do i need to buy the ones already packaged up at like a bestbuy, or can i just go to like a home depot or car audio store and buy it by the foot and but the banana or spade plugs on them?

also on the setup of the HT, everything gets plugged into the receiver (tivo, the cable box, ps2, dvd player, computer), and then the only things coming out of the receiver is the cable to the tv and the wires to the speakers. is that correct?

First look around your house, do you have anything you can use? Most speakers will be fine with any 16-12g wire. And if you can do it yourself, then bananas would be an asset for avr set up. Sub will need a rca cable(sub cable) the lenght should be proper for your placement.I'm using blue jeans cable for audio & video you can check them out @ www.bluejeanscable.com :)
Lastly for all connections to your AVR that's fine, as long as you have all the in & outputs and assign your components accordingly:)

Billy_P is right about the speaker wire. Any 16-14g wire will work fine. BlueJeans makes nice cables but you can do just as well with the sub cable for even less money by getting some RG-6 cable (bulk) cut to whatever lenght you need and using RCA connectors on the ends.
