Newb looking for help

Hello, everyone.
I'm usually a Car audio kinda guy but after hearing my car stereo compared to my TV I knew something had to be done lol.
And I know Car audio and home audio are really two different worlds.
Was wondering if someone could help me.
I landed what is to be a pretty great receiver at a Yard sale for $300 that he said was a fairly new model.. I googled searched the model number on the phone said the retail was about $799 so I decided to snag it. the gentlemen said he was moving into a small apartment and could not longer have loud music.
And just got paid today so looking for something great sounding speakers with preferably a good warranty (AKA CHEAP AS POSSIBLE).

If the master of Home Audio can help me I would be for ever grateful.

I am not the master of home audio, but a couple highly-regarded and inexpensive speakers are the Infinity Primus speaker series and the Pioneer SP speaker series. If you live near a Fry's, you can get them on really good deals once in awhile, like $60 to $100 per speaker. If you can afford to spend more, naturally your options open up quite a bit.

Oh you don't have to be a master lol.
I'm working with about thousand, when I was doing car Audio I was paying about $235 each per sub with MTX and got extremely good bass.
And of course I designed and fiberglassed my whole box for them..
Just looking for something that sounds clear, isn't muddy or muffled, has great highs, gun shots you can feel from movies.. Without breaking the bank.

A home environment is a heckuva lot different than a car environment. You can expect the biggest chunk of that $1000 to go for a sub. Consider those speakers previously mentioned and take what's left and see what you can get from Hsu or SVS as far as subs go.

What brand/model is the receiver? How big is the room? Do you want bookshelf or towers? A $1000.00 budget gives you some good choices. I have EMP towers speakers and like them. Do you want a 3.1, 5.1, or 7.1?

I don't know if SVs would sell just the driver. If you're confident with DYI, then you can get drivers here, https://www.parts-express.com/. I'll yeild to other members (Fuzz) when it comes to building subs.

I'm happy with my EMP's. But you may not be. Have you heard any speakers that you have liked? People are different and prefer different sounding speakers. I would suggest auditioning as many speaker brands, and types, as time allows.

Haven't really heard any home theater speakers other than the movie theaters.. I was running 6 Alpine SWR-1043D in the back on my Chrysler 300 with 5 3inch open ports and cracked my front windshield though lol

It is all about the design and engineering as a whole - plus some magnets are stronger than others
HSU, and SVS make good subs

I would go with some good bookshelf speakers
