Ok it looks like i would probaby get the centres then from Para.

I just called the nearest hifi store. They stock the Para Titan monitors & CC centre.

Fronts: Paradigm Titan Monitors x2 - $1299. Stands $199
Centre: Paradigm CC-190 - $399
If you're going to spend $1500 on a pair of bookshelfs with stands, you should simply just get the Studio 60s. Forget the center channel for the time being and save up for one of the Studio centers in the future.

He is in Australia so if he has to paid $1,299 for the little Titan monitors without stands he probably has to pay much more than $1,500 for the Studio 60 V4. I have no idea why the Paradigms are so expensive in Australia.

Ask your dealer why their Titan monitors are so expensive. In Canada where they are made, you can get them for under $600 and the CC-190 for under $300.

If you are after home theater bass at affordable prices, you can't beat SVS or HSU products, just pick one that suits your budget.

I think it might be cheaper for him to buy it online and have it shipped to Aus.

Sorry guys but i should have clarified. Those were based on RRP's which i thought i was going to pay, but i found out the final price and it worked out to be $899 for the 2 fronts & $299 for the centre.

Yes still much dearer in US, but the turnaround for these is much quicker than ordering other brands which may take months. After all i have a brand spankin new Yamaha 663, so i want something to listen to for the timebeing.

The only sub i can get is from HSU. My retailer advised these could take 2-3 months to get her, but did highlight its advantages over the Paradigm subs.

Im thinkin about getting this one. HSU VTF-3 MK3. Firstly because i can have this shipped in Aus, and 2 from reviews its mostly positive, plus i think it will fill out my HT room with nice bass.

Price-wise, its $999 with all shipping costs involved. What do u guys think?

Good point. Wow i particularly like the Rosenut finish. Yes i did look at that, although i will have to confirm what actual colour i can get imported here.. fingers crossed i have a choice, but either way i dont mind black.

Its actually $999 Aus, thats a quote i got with shipping costs etc. Im pretty sure thats the black version because it wasnt mentioned..

Are there primarily good feedback on this forum with HSU subs?

In that case, i would prob go the cheaper one, as the sub will be in an inconspicous corner of the HT room..

You should also consider future plans, unless you're absolutely sure that the subwoofer is going to stay in that "inconspicuous corner" for the rest of its lifetime. :D

I mean if you can pay $999 to have a sub shipped to you, what's $50 to $100 more for a finish that would be eyecandy to you.

Just a suggestion. :)

Hey metroboy,
I completely agree with PENG. It comes down to what your ears like the best. When i was looking for my speakers, I spent good about 2-3 months auditioning various brands, all the way from the top of the line to cheaper ones. To be honest, I really liked some of the not so expensive ones (but they were still out of my budget). I did not like Yamaha speakers to be honest. I am a die hard Yamaha fan when it comes to receivers but to my ears, Yamaha speakers are not faithful when it comes to giving uncolored sound. I really liked the B&Ws, Kef, Tannoy, Definitive Technology (do listen to these if you could do it, great speakers for decent price). I ended up going with axioms for value for the money. They had the best sound (to my ears) for the price. My room is about 3000 ft3 and these speakers fill it up really well. The sound stage is amazing. There surely are better speakers out there but as I said before, it came down to my budget and what my ears liked. Everyone on this forum has their own preferences. How much are you planning on spending? Getting two good mains and a really good sub to start with and adding good surround speakers later is a good idea. Just because you want more speakers, dont compromise on the quality of sound you will get, my two cents.

Hey guys im back..

Ok now during my absence, i actually trekked the 100+km's to my nearest hifi store as the subwoofer (http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/vtf-3-mk3.html) had just come in, which was very surprising because it was so quick! (its the standard black finish :(..

One reason why i trekked is because there was a shipping problem with the Paradigms... i actually tested instore for a good 2-3 hours other speakers but i liked this:

Yamaha NS-777's Fronts
Yamaha NS-444 Centre

I initially didnt want to go for them, but i was shocked because to my ears, these sounded really fantastic and the owner was impressed with them. Obviously im talking within my budget, and other speakers on display didnt compare with the Yamaha's. I know theyre not renowned for being good speakers, but to me, it exceeded my expectations.

I hooked up the HSU sub, and wow they sound really great! no distortiona and theres a good response overall with music & movies. love it!

Regarding the rears, i think i'll wait for them because i spent $400 on interconnects & speaker wires etc. I also bought a $600 nice lowline wide glass plasma unit. I just wished i lived closer to the store...

Once i have this all set up and my HT room complete, i want to take photos and show you guys!. I really want to thank EVERYONE who gave me guidance with my HT needs on this forums, very helpful people who know their $hit :D

I'll check back later with some photos.

EDIT: I exchanged my Yamaha V663 for the V863 for a diff. of $150 only special!!

Regards,
metroboy83 (Michael)

you even get a good finish to go with it.
