My first time hearing these guys after reading about them on this Fourm I must say iam very impressed. Blu-ray version fantastic video quality and the sound is mixed top notch although I wouldn’t expect anything less from Steve Wilson . Kind of reminds me of earlier groups like Spooky Tooth , and Hawkwind or a little King Crimson to name a few but that’s just some of my background . I don’t really see how these guys have slipped through my sights . Highly recommend .

Enjoy! PT is an excellent band. And as a drummer, I’ve been a fan of Gavin Harrison for a looooong time. Cheers!

I had that since it came out :) Unfortunately, it sounds like that was the last tour for PT, but you never know. I went to the show here in SF. He did not say the last album from them though.

Steven Wilson is releasing a new solo album this year too.

His influences include King Crimson and his favorite band growing up was Pink Floyd. IIRC, he is from the town where PF started.

He does exelent work on surround mixes I’ve heard his name thrown around for years on reviews Fourm . I really don’t know how these guys slipped right by my attention. I will look for more from them .

I'll recommend the Anesthetize BD and the older, but still great, Arriving Somewhere BD. His multichannel mixes are excellent.

Yeah, I'm surprised too. :D We've discussed the band a few times here. I'll admit that my introduction to the band was through these forums and they are now one of my favorites. I watch their videos on Youtube very frequently. Many of the tracks from the discs l_garcia mentioned are available on Youtube as well. Would love to see them live but the last time that they were in Canada the tickets were expensive and I already had tickets for Roger Waters. Kind'a regret not going though.

Beyond the live stuff, there are a number of multichannel mixes of the albums themselves. You can youtube the various albums and see what you like song wise and then pick up the multichannel album for it because they're all good. I would highly recommend In Absentia and Deadwing as the most listenable, rock like albums. Their older stuff is still excellent, but different. The newer stuff is kind of mixed with the flavor of his solo stuff, but the mixes are always getting more impressive. Now that he has been releasing the Deluxe editions of all those albums though, the older DVD or BD/CD combos are hard to find and the Deluxe editions are great but also expensive.

In Absentia Deluxe The DVD-A for it is still available and reasonable

Deadwing Deluxe The DVD-A is still available too, but is going for around the same price, so not worth it.

He went from dts to dts-HD and TrueHD and is now on to Atmos.

Agreed doing a deep dive on some of these I can get the main ones you mentioned on eBay from Europe I’ve had good luck with getting imports from England and Germany too . The industry could stand a lesson from Steve on how to mix surround music .
