Just went out and bought Klipsch Speaker and subwoofer setup, along with a Yamaha receiver. My Speakers are the Quintet III with the Sub10 subwoofer, the Receiver is the HTR 5840.

The set up sounds great but I am a little apprehensive to crank it up, for fear of blowing the speakers. My question is. How much can the Quintets hold and is the fear that I have an issue with these speakers? Also if anyone can give information on the correct setting for the Subwoofer as to where the position of the control dials should be for optimal sound would be helpful?

The speakers are almost bullet proof as long as they get a clean signal so I would not be concerned about hurting them. These are not your grandmother's Bose speakers.

As for setting up the Sub. Look over the FAQ page and get a Radio Shack sound meter and set all your speakers to the same dB level from the primary seating position, including the sub.

Not too familiar with your receiver but it could allow you to set speaker distances and individual dB levels. Check your manual and see if it has these capabilities to really tune your system.

Yamaha speaker setup

Your receiver is a couple steps down from mine. It does not have an automatic setup, but it will output the test tones to each speaker for measurement and adjustment with an SPL meter. Also make sure you set each speaker as SMALL or LARGE and enter the speaker distances. Select an appropriate crossover frequency (80 Hz is a good start) and you will be calibrated for HT.

Your yamaha isn't a major powerhouse, but Klipsch speakers are very efficient, so you shouldn't have a problem driving they to high volume levels.
