Hey guys, I am pretty new too the world of home audio systems. So here is the deal...

I have abut $1000 to spend on a home theater system and right now. My current shopping list is as follows:

Onkyo TX-SR607 $404
Klipsch Synergy Quintet SL 5.0 speakers $399
Klipsch Synergy SUB-10 $200

What do you guys think of a setup like this?? Do you think maybe I should go with a TX-SR507 instead of the 607 - and is there a much better 5.0 speaker system for around the same price? Basically I am looking for recommendations or possibly a complete rebuild of the whole setup - like I said I am really new to this and any input would be much appreciated!!!

Oh, and one more thing. Do you think this will sound better than an equivalent Onkyo HTIB?? Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

Have you heard those speakers in person? If so, what did you think? If not, can you? I ask these questions because some people like the sound of Klipsch speakers, while others don't. In the end, it really only matters what you like.

As for the 507 versus the 607, are there particular features that you are looking to get in a receiver?

Thanks for the quick response! I have a Klipsch 2.1 for my PC that I really enjoy. I am not an Audiophile by any means so I really don't have a whole lot of preference. I have not heard the above speakers, but I am not sure where I would be able to go listen to them.

I am in Omaha, NE - so there really aren't a ton of options.

Anyway, as far as receivers go - I haven't got a clue what I do or do not need. I heard that the audio quality on the 607 was phenomenal for the price, and I like how many HDMI ports it has.

I will be using this system for Music (rock/metal), Watching blu-rays on my PS3, and gaming on my PS3, 360 and Wii. I like the upconverting option but its definitly not my reason for buying.

Thanks for the help! And I love your dog! I have a Great Pyrenees so big white dogs are my cup of tea. Haha.
