Unless a specific receiver is 'voiced' differently than others (meaning it intentionally alters some frequencies relative to others) there is NO difference between comparable receivers other than their ability to drive difficult loads like low impedance speakers.

If you have experience with Marantz and have been generally satisfied with their performance, then buy another Marantz. That is exactly how each of us has developed a brand preference over the years - experience. If you were to subject yourself to a welll designed double blind test, you will not be able to pick one over the other unless one is accurate and the other purposely deviates from a flat response.

Don't rock the boat. If you like Marantz, stick with it.

That about sums it up.

Ok Guys I took your advise and went ahead and bought a Marantz SR7001 it will be here next week. I am a bit exited to hear how it sounds. Those of you with the Marantz 7001 please chime in and tell me the pros and cons of the Marantz and how you like yours.

You should be happy with the Marantz. Marantz is an old name in audio; just like Pioneer, Onkyo, and Yamaha they've been in business for over 50 years. There are perhaps subtle differences in receivers but I think you can't really go wrong with any of the top tier names.

Well guys my dealer called me today and told me that my receiver is here. I went and picked it up and took it home. Ufortunately my lunch time is over so I will have to wait until I get home to listen to my receiver.

For those with the SR7001 are you pleased thus far and do you think i will hear a difference in SQ between it and my SR6400?

I’m new to this forum and excited to be here! Until now, I’ve never really consulted anyone about home theater purchases—I typically just head to the store, listen to a few setups, and pick what I like best. However, after spending some time reading the amazing posts here, I realized I have a lot to learn, and a few questions I’d love to ask.
