hey guys new to the forum, just bought an accusound om750 pack with a jvc 7.1ch amp, 110wx7. just wondering with the setup what crossover etc to set it up at. room is approx 4x4x4 with the other wall being open to kitchen. currently have sub volume 3/4, crossover and phase cranked. amp is set at 120 crossover. sounds good, but seems it misses something on movies that are on normal hd digital, mainly bass, might just have to change set up for dvd apposed to tv???.
thanks everyone. tim

Welcome to the forum!

A couple of things come to mind:
1. With the frequency response of those speakers, I would set the crossover to a lower frequency - somewhere in the 80 to 90Hz range. You should always experiment and find out what you like the best, but using a crossover in that range is pretty typical. 80Hz is the THX standard, I think.

2. Be sure to match the speaker levels using an auto set-up routine (if your receiver has one) or a set of test tones (which your receiver most likely has) and an SPL meter. SPL stands for "sound pressure level", and you can buy those meters for fairly cheap. Radio Shack is a good place to get one in the USA, but based on your room measurements being in...I'm guessing...meters, you probably don't live in the USA. Getting the speaker levels set equal is an important step. If you can't do either of the above two methods, you can also use test tones and your own ears to set the levels.

EDIT: Also check out this page on the Audioholics site for bass tips: http://www.audioholics.com/tweaks/get-good-bass/

EDIT 2: Actually, just go to the menu bar near the top of the main Audioholics page and check out the "Tips & Tricks" pull-down menu. A lot of good stuff there.

cheers, just one other thing, when amp is turned down to general listening (instead of wall shaking!!) the sub seems to take ages to cut in if at all, i usually walk over and switch the "standby" switch across and the sub comes straight on. any suggestions??

Yep. You might have the sub level on the receiver set pretty low (perhaps in the -dB range) based on your statement that you have the volume on the sub set to 3/4.

If the signal going from the receiver to the sub is very low, then the signal sensor on the sub probably won't trigger and the sub won't turn on. If you boost that signal, then the sensor has a much better chance of detecting it and turning the sub on. However, when you boost that signal, you want to turn the amp gain down on the sub itself so that you don't hurt the sub or just go deaf. :)

Here's what I would do: set the volume knob on the sub down to zero, set the sub output level on the receiver to 0dB or slightly higher, and then adjust the volume knob on the sub until the sub level is correct (or is at the level that you want).

the jvc amp model is RXD301S, it doesnt rate anything in db just numbers,
i have sub set to 8/10, but will fiddle around with it, pack really cranks but just the sub kicking in/out during softer sections of a movie is annoying.
