New Sony Blu-ray players

I thought they both do some decoding, just not all of it. I'm also thinking by the time, these new players come out in summer, there will be a solid HTPC Video/Audio bitstream solution to DolbyHD and DTS-MA. If that's the case, I'll forgoe the $450 on the standalone player and just put towards building a nice HTPC.

Upscaling Through Componet Video

Does anyone know if the new BluRay players will upscale my old DVDs through component video cables? A dealer told me the current Sony 300 will. I have a 1080i RCA HDTV that has no HDMI or DVI inputs. I don't want to replace it for a few more years since it works well. I do want to upgrade to a BluRay DVD player soon.
Any recommendations on a new BluRay player brand and model to meet my needs would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
John

Looking at a couple of different manf. sites, they always say upscaling via HDMI. Now that could mean that upscaling over HDMI is the big deal vs it doing it via component that's not a big deal... even though it could do it over both. Someone will chime in so0on with the right answer.

It is illegal for any US sold/distributed player to output higher than 480p resolution (for DVDs) over component video connections. While there are some players out there that can perform this, it tends to be from more 'grey market' companies. You won't find this on a mainstream Blu-ray manufactured player, or on any other mainstream DVD player.
