Yamaha RX-V667
Yamaha RX-V671
Onkyo TX - NR609

New speakers im looking at.
Polk Audio CS1 Series II Center
Polk Audio CS10 Center
Polk Audio Monitor40 Series II
Polk Audio Monitor30 Series II i can get the the monitor40 cheaper.
Definitive Technology ProCinema 600

the only thing is i will not be able to get everything at one time. just need to know where i should start and it if this is a good setup.

Any Polk's before LSi series are simply put - trash
Definitive Technology ProCinema 600 - is overpriced and under-performing hts

Lets start from clean page: What's your total budget and how big is your room (and if it's open to other spaces/rooms)

id say that the budget would be 1200$ to 1300$ but like i said i will not be able to buy it all at one time. The room is about 15x15 and i dont know would much longer i will be living at this place. The room leads to a hallway and the kitchen.

ok, you currently have an Onkyo HT-R510 receiver part of the htib you had.
Honestly - if still works - it could be used to decode , say a digital cable, dvd or gaming console (with adapters)

But if you intend to get BluRay movies or 3d stuff - you need to change the receiver for sure
$1300 Budget - I'd divide like this:
Onkyo TX-NR708 - $400
Onkyo TX-NR708 7.2-Channel 3-D Ready Network A/V Receiver | Accessories4less

Infinity Primus
p252 150/each
Infinity Primus P252 (Black grille) Single floor-standing speaker at Crutchfield.com
pc251 center - $150/each
Infinity Primus PC251 Center channel speaker at Crutchfield.com
p152 - surrounds - 75/each
Infinity Primus P152 Single bookshelf speaker at Crutchfield.com
Sub:
Premier Acoustic PA-150 - you could it for $350 (shipped) here:
Premier Acoustic PA-150 1000 Watt Powered Subwoo
* Use make your offer

Total: $1350 delivered

I'd start with receiver, mains and sub. Get center and surrounds later if you must split the budget -
you could use you onkyo speakers as surrounds for now ...

Here is a really great sounding budget system that is recommended around these here parts!!

Yamaha RX-V671 $498
Infinity Primus
P252 Towers $298pr
PC250 Center $149
P152 Bookshelf $148pr
Rythmik FV-12 Subwoofer $499
Total: $1592ish

Or

Substitute the Infintiy Primus speakers for the Pioneer SP-PK51SB package minus the crappy subwoofer.

I just bought my good friend those Pioneer speakers 5.0 for his anniversary!! Paired up with a new receiver hes buying & soon to come sub (not chosen yet) The speakers sound incredible for the $300 i paid for them!!

Edit: My bad i thought you said $1500 budget. Dont know why i thought that. Change the sub or receiver to get price down. Get the best sub you can though!!!

Haha we posted these at the same time....told you it was recommended a lot here. Its a well established speaker combo that is one of the best in its class (Infinity Primus). The Pioneer is also excellent, i can personally vouch for them. Never compared them side by side to the Primus but i have heard both & liked both in their price range. I like the curved cabinets of the Pioneers better but thats just the looks. How they sound to you is the important part!

I have to say this looks great, but i just have to ask about the receiver and the sub.....what would be the big difference between the the onkyo 609 vs. 708? And why go with a 15" instead of a 10 or 12?

and thanks for all the info i can tell you have much it helps.....

Onkyo 7xx series offer besides everything else - something lower models don't - is multi-channel pre-out. If you ever get different speakers which would need more power with 7xx (or higher) models you could get just get external amp, instead of trashing the whole receiver.

Why 15" ? - Why not - it's cheap and has tons of power :D
In addition your room which is open to other spaced will not work with any 10" sub in you price range... The minimum i'd recommend is 12"
PA make PA-120 (like I have) - it works fine in my room, but to be honest I'd love to have more chest pounding effects which in my large living room pa-120 struggles to deliver.
another option is BIC PL-200 sub which would be found for about $280-300

For movies, it is always better 12" and above. Get your receiver
from AC4L - they are a good company. I also, reccomend the
Pioneer speakers - I prefer them over the Primus. Your choice.

Also remember that by going from a 10" to a 15" subwoofer, your surface area is not going up by only 50%, since the surface area is Pi*r^2.

Like a 10" subwoofer has about 78-in^2 of surface area, yet a 15" has 177-in^2 ..... So more than two times the surface area of the cone.

With subwoofers, you /generally/ get a bigger return on investment going larger (the price jump versus performance bump makes sense). That is if the manufacturer doesn't try to make a huge lick on the larger driver subwoofer (frankly, it doesn't cost that much more to build a box for a 15" than a 10")

I have just one more question about the receiver. What is the best difference with these three receivers.

Onkyo TX-NR708 - $400 Onkyo Factory Refurbished I know last years model
Onkyo TX-NR709 - $479 Onkyo factory Refurbished
Onkyo TX-NR609 - $390 New

and will the Onkyo UWF-1 Wireless LAN Adapter work with the 708?
