New RX-V665 only getting PCM?

Just got a new Yamaha RX-V665.Hooked it up to FIOS HD dvr and Samsung BD1500 using HDMI cables.It seems the only audio decoder setting I can get out of the receiver from both boxes is PCM.I've tried all the settings I could try in the yammys menus to no avail.I have a RX-V465 hooked up on another set and I get Dolby Digital from the FIOS box, and all the new decodes,etc.,DTS-HD Master ,,from the blu ray box no problem.Any Ideas?I have the BD-1500 set to bitstream(audiophile) in its setup menu.

Sounds like a HDMI handshake issue. I've heard of displays causing similar issues since most of them don't support more than 2 channels, they identify themselves as two channel devices and confuse the handshake process. Try turning things on in a different order. I would suggest 1) TV 2) Receiver and 3) source.

The only reason a receiver will force a PCM issue, is if you have the hdmi audio being output to the tv...you need to turn hdmi audio out off.

Audio Output = AMP (not TV, not TV+AMP)
