Haven't walked into local best buy in years but recently needed a cable so gave me the opportunity to walk around and take in what's new. Their receiver aisle caught my attention. I thought I had a pretty powerful one ( Onkyo sr 805) at 130 w per channel. Most everything they had was higher with a denon topping out at 185 w. This thing was smaller and weighed next to nothing. I liked the dual sub outputs but can these recievers now days really push that much power ? May want to upgrade if there really that powerful

Perhaps you're misunderstanding or making comparisons between different spec basis, but without model numbers hard to know what you looked at. Most avrs are going to be within a few dB of each other in any case. The Denon 7200, if you saw one, benched in the S&V test 185w at 8 ohm 1% thd 2ch driven. Doesn't mean it's significantly more power than your Onkyo. Some avrs have dual sub outputs that can separately adjust for level/delay, but otherwise a simple y-splitter is all many of them have internally.
