I got the NAD C 298 today and set it up. For the time being I don't plan to stack it with the NAD C 658 Preamp/Streamer. The streamer is getting great reception now on the top shelf.
The Turntable is not in an ideal spot. I lack furniture to change things at the moment but it needs to be close to the preamp due to limitations on chord and grounding wire length.
I like the new NAD Amp a lot. The sound is definitely an improvement over the 40 year old Carver and no more buzzes and transients.

The system sounds surprisingly good despite the clutter. I do at least have line of sight to the tweeters and mid-range from my chair. The sweet spot is standing in front of tallest boxes but this photo from my desk chair is quite good also.
Not ideal for a full audition....
I hope/expect that my wife will be getting most of this clutter out by next summer. They are mainly donations for the Lakota Tribe that she's slowly getting out to S. Dakota.
