Has anyone been anywhere to hear these, or seen them in person? Just by looking at them, they seem to be fairly different now, incorporating real wood veneers and a curvalinear cabinet shape. Seems intriguing:

haven't heard these yet ... but aside from the enclosure upgrade, the drivers look the same.

OT: how's your rsx-1056? :)

they sound different too. if you didn't like the bright carater of the old ones, then you won't like them either. We sell them as word and they are brighter than the Rti8 and 10 which I own. I'll past on them. Nice cabinets though...

Circuit carries Polk too. Between CC and Fry's I should have a chance to listen to them in the near future.

I'm a little concerned to hear that they are bright, but then again I've heard that about just about every speaker out there. Klipsch has a reputation for being extremely bright, B&W have been characterized that way as well, ditto for Axiom and occasionally Paradigm...now Polk? Are there any speakers that are not 'bright'. LOL.

The only time I briefly heard a Polk and HK combination at Fry's my impression was that the sound was dull, definitely not bright. So many factors though in a lousy showroom so who knows.

If you're talking about the one on the corner of Broadway and Craycroft, I know it well! I use to live about a block from there and would walk over to browse from time to time. About a half-block away is Wilson Audio. I don't recommend buying from them (based on my own purchasing experience - they became lying cheats to me after I spent over $2000 there), but they do carry brands there that you won't find elsewhere in Tucson. It could be a good place to see other stuff if you're already close to there.

Right now, Crutchfield is running a special on Polk speakers. Most orders over $249 have free shipping to you, and it's free shipping back if you don't like them. A great way to try them out at your house with virtually no risk.

I listened to Polk RTi A9's yesterday for a couple hours at Fry's in Burbank, CA. They were set up in a closed theater room, so the sound environment was pretty good. I compared them against the LSi 25's in the same room (which is a poor comparison since they have powered subs in them).

Unfortunately, I havent' listened to enough speakers to give any sort of review, I just know I liked them enough to try an demo them in my home later on. They supposedly sound similar to the RTi12's, which are only 800 a pair at Fry's right now. That's what brought me there in the first place.

I much prefer the rounded cabinet of the RTi A9, to last year's RTi12's rectangular cabinet, but I doubt I'd pay twice as much for it.

I plan to go back next week when supposedly the RTi A9's and the RTi12s will be set up next to each other.

I'll have to check that out then when I get back in town. Never knew Tucson had a Wilson Audio, I was only aware of the one in Phoenix.
