I have a question, What would you think of about matching a Polk CSI3(center) with 2 Wharfedale Diamond 8.2's for Fronts? The rest is, a homemade sub and Mirage M90's in the rear. Oh, and a Yahmaha 5760... Please give me your opinion on this setup. Any suggestions for setting up?

the textbook answer to this one is that you would want to match your center to your mains. it's unlikely the Polk has the same timbre (or "voice") as the the Wharfedales. you might see (errr, hear) a skip or interruption in the sound as it moves from the left speaker through the center and on to the right. in theory, you should find the Wharfedale center that's matched to your mains.

you can adjust for small mismatches by moving the center forward or back a little off the arc of the left-center-right speakers, but it won't help much.

all that being said, if you can get the Polk from a decent company that will let you return it for only minor fees, it might be worth a shot.

this also applies if you use your system mainly for H/T. I haven't seen anything written about timbre mismatch for SACD or DVD-audio, and I don;t have any experience with that part myself.

hmmm

I have been so impressed with the build quality and sound reproduction from the Polk that I am considering replacing the two front Diamond 8.2's with a pair of Polk RTI 6's. What are your opinions on this ? How do the two compare?

the specs on the RTI-6's are great, but I've never heard them (in fact, if they really do go from 55 all the way up 26KHz, only dogs have truly heard them :D ). they certainly look like a great bookshelf value ($ 380 or less, if you're a good shopper).
