According to Pioneer, it is 140 watts x 10.

Actually it does output 200w, but on stereo mode only; anyway a helluva machine, isn't it?

Well, it's definitely one of the most expensive receivers on the market.

But for $7,000, I was kind of hoping for 200 watts x 10 ch.

I hope Audioholics will test this baby fully so that we can do a head-to-head comparison with the Denon 5308 & Yamaha Z11

I don't think I would go out of my way to buy that unit...

There will be numbers of companies that will be getting that amp section to put into dedicated stand alone amps. That way you could get an upcoming pre-amp and run the new version IcePower multichannel amp. I have read it is supposed to sound great.

Either way I look forward to the reviews of this unit... I personally feel that it will really start to bridge the gap between separates and receivers.. removing the need to have cables connecting/interfering with the signal...

Well said. I think as time goes on and the a/v/pc gap tightens we'll see more single unit solutions. It seems receivers are almost computers as they are now and it will only become more so.

While I love technology and gadgetry, I'll lament the day when we no longer see a pre/pro, seperate amps, sitting atop a column of components.

I do like the look of the gear, probably because it's been around my whole life. I will not miss lugging heavy boxes around, though.

I think that day will never come.

You would think that Vinyl would be 100% obsolete by now, but it is not.

There are just way too many audiophiles out there to please and sell all kinds of components to.

Companies are there to make money. If they can sell a $7,500 Denon Pre-Pro like candies, they will just keep on making more and more.

It was mentioned that it was a 7 channel even though there are clearly 10 speaker outputs. I remember reading somewhere that you could also bi-amp the front 3 channels to really push some power through.

Well, if it is rated @ 140 watts x 10 ch (all channels driven), I bet it can do a lot more (maybe 300-400 watts?) with just 2 ch driven.
